Early Help
Rodborough Playgroup is committed to supporting children and families where they have additional or emerging needs. We will do this by regularly reviewing and following the Early Help Practice Guidance . Following this guidance ensures we are familiar with how Early Help works within Gloucestershire and can provide support as soon as a problem emerges at any point from the Early Years Foundation Stage onwards.
The staff will use tools and templates to help with this support which are found under ‘Using the Graduated Pathway of Early Help and Support’ tab on the guidance. This includes the My Plan and My Plan + templates as well as information about how to register assessments and plans with the Local Authority to aid information sharing and reduce duplication for families in re-telling their stories.

This guidance also details how practitioners can use The Neglect Tool Kit to help identify what a child or young person’s needs are especially if there is additional potential harm from other underlying factors. In Gloucestershire, child neglect has been a prominent feature of Serious Case Reviews in recent times and as a result a Child Neglect Toolkit has been developed to support early identification.
The toolkit supports practitioners to reflect on the child or young person’s circumstances; identifying strengths and resources to support families, with their consent, whilst also evidencing any concerns. It is used by the child’s key person supported by the DSL and shared with the Community Social Workers at GSCP who are contactable on 01452 426565 option 3.
All staff are trained to understand our local Early Help process and their role within it.
