I like Myself! By Karen Beaumont and illustrated by David Catrow
One little girl’s exuberant ode to self-esteem that celebrates the joy of liking who you are:
‘Inside, outside, upside down, from head to toe and all around, I like it all! It all is me! And me is all I want to be.’
Even as she imagines herself with increasingly silly physical features such as “knobby knees, or hippo hips, or purple polka-dotted lips”, this indomitable little girl’s sense of self-worth remain strong.
Sassy and soulful, this book is sure to inspire every child to revel in his or her own special uniqueness.
We are welcoming back the children, those who have been before and those who are just starting. It has been lovely to get back to play together!
Every week, we choose a book to read with the children to foster a love of reading and a development of language through sharing different stories, poems, and factual books.
The children are all making new friends and we have been reading this book and talking about our differences and what we like about ourselves, like the little girl in the book.
If your child has any favourite books, please let us know as we could share together as a book of the week.
